What is Yoga ?
Yoga is the
most ancient science of life, which shows the way
to bring stress under control, on a physical, mental and
spiritual level.
Anyone can practice yoga no matter their age, condition
or religion; young or old, sick or fit - all can benefit
from this discipline. Yoga is not a theory but a practical
way of life. Practice and you will see for yourself the
many benefits.
Sivananda
Yoga Classical - Traditional Yoga
Sivananda Yoga is a classical, traditional
yoga, named after one of the greatest Yoga masters of
the 20th century from which our knowledge and inspiration
comes. It emphasizes the control of the body and mind
in order to go within ourselves, to bring consciousness
and spiritual growth.
Teachings
Swami Sivananda: "Serve, love,
give, purify, meditate, realize."
One of the greatest Yoga masters of the 20th century, Swami
Sivananda is the inspiration behind many people in the
path of Yoga.
Saint and self-realized guru, he dedicated his life to
selfless service to humanity.
Born on September 8, 1887, in Tamil Nadu , South India.
Early in his life, he became a medical doctor who for
many years helped thousands of people in Malaysia. Later
in his life, he took the path of renunciation - the spiritual
path - and became a Swami,(a Master) in Rishikesh, Himalayas.
His aim was the dissemination of spiritual knowledge and
training of people in yoga. He was the founder of the
Sivananda Ashram, Divine Life Society and Yoga Forest
Academy. He create a balance combination of the 4 paths
of Yoga which are summarized as
"Serve, love, give, purify, meditate and realize".
He wrote more than 100 books. He left his physical body
in 1963.

Vishnu - devananda - the flying Swamiji:
Health is

A close disciple of Swami Sivananda who was born in Kerala,
South India on December 31, 1927. Also known as "the flying
Swami" for the different peace missions he accomplished
around the world.
Swami Vishnu was sent to the west by Swami Sivananda to
spread the knowledge of Yoga. He founded ofThe True World
Peace Order and the International Sivananda Vedanta Centers
which now number more than 20 centers and 7 ashrams. Recognized
as a world authority of hatha and raja yoga, Swamiji felt
the need to train the future leaders of the world in yogic
disciplines. For this reason he created The Sivananda
Yoga Teacher's Training Course, "TTC", in 1969, which
to date has trained more than 8,000 certified teachers.
He wrote many books, such as the longtime bestseller The
Completed Illustrated Book of Yoga. He left his physical
body in 1993.

of Yoga
Swami Vishnu-Devananda summarized the wisdom of yoga in
five points which lead to a perfect health - physical,
mental and spiritual. The body is a temple or vehicle
of the soul, and has specific requirements which must
be fullfilled for it to function properly.

Courses
The courses involve the same teacher
and students, creating a closer relationship between teacher
and students, The courses are detail-oriented to help
you with the most challenging aspects of your practice.
It includes theory and practice step by step. The teacher
and a small group of students meet two times a week.
Pre-registration required
Yoga 1 Beginner's Course
Specially designed for those new
to Yoga, this course introduces you to the basic Sivananda
routine, consisting of breathing, warm ups, postures and
relaxation. Ideal preparation for drop-in classes as well
for your practice at home.
Yoga 2 and 3
Continuation of Yoga, involving
a deeper practice and an introduction to variations of
the basic postures as well new postures.

Class Guidelines
Please bring your own mat and
wear comfortable loose clothing. Come with an empty stomach
(minimum 2 hours after a meal) . Allow 10 minutes before
class to sign in and settle. *studio capacity is limited
